CAT Scale RV Weight Checklist
Use this CAT scale RV weight checklist as a ticket worksheet: load the truck and trailer as they travel, write down each axle and gross weight, then bring those numbers back to the calculator.
A certified scale ticket gives better evidence than brochure weights or guesses because it reflects the truck, passengers, cargo, hitch hardware, trailer load, and water you actually brought.
Load the truck as it will travel: passengers, fuel, cab cargo, bed cargo, hitch hardware, tools, bikes, and any accessories that stay on the truck.
Load the trailer as it will travel too, including cargo, propane, batteries, fresh water if carried, and installed options.
For a truck-only pass before hookup, write down steer axle, drive axle, and gross truck weight.
For a connected-rig pass, write down steer axle, drive axle, trailer axle group, and gross combination weight.
For a truck and travel trailer on a three-platform CAT Scale, the front truck axle normally goes on platform 1, the rear truck axle on platform 2, and the trailer axle group on platform 3.
Use truck-only gross weight as actual truck loaded weight before trailer hookup when that pass matches your travel load.
If your shopping estimate used a 6,500 lb trailer but the loaded scale pass supports 6,850 lb, rerun the report with the measured number before reviewing tongue weight and tow rating margin.
If truck-only gross weight is higher than expected because of passengers, tools, or bed cargo, update actual truck loaded weight and recheck GVWR, GCWR, and remaining payload.
Do not double-count tongue weight when connected-rig truck axle readings already include weight carried by the truck.
Compare scale readings against payload, GVWR, GCWR, GAWR if available, receiver rating, trailer GVWR, and the loaded trailer estimate.

Calculator handoff
Use truck-only gross for actual truck loaded weight before hookup, and use a matching connected-rig pass to review loaded trailer and combined weight checks.
Scale ticket worksheet
- Truck-only steer axle
- Ticket pass 1 Record the front axle weight with the truck loaded as it will travel before trailer hookup.
- Truck-only drive axle
- Ticket pass 1 Record the rear truck axle weight with passengers, cargo, hitch hardware, and bed gear onboard.
- Truck-only gross
- Actual truck loaded weight Use this as the calculator's actual truck loaded weight before trailer hookup when the pass matches your travel load.
- Connected rig axles
- Ticket pass 2 Record steer, drive, trailer axle group, and gross combination weight after hookup.
- Ticket note
- Date / WDH state Write the ticket date or short note and whether the WDH was engaged if you use one.
- Double-count guard
- Do not add tongue twice Connected truck axle readings already include tongue or pin weight carried by the truck.
